AAT Composites Successfully obtains AS9100 Rev D Certification
Through the course of 2017 and into early 2018, AAT undertook to review and enhance its existing, AS9100-certified quality management system (QMS) with the key goals of:
- Aligning the AAT QMS with the new requirements of AS9100: Rev. D, and achieve a successful, third-party transition-audit through May, 2018;
- Reviewing the current QMS for efficiency, simplicity and streamline / make LEAN;
- Ensuring compliance with the newly-introduced SAP business processes & associated workflows;
- Evaluating the potential implementation of the requirements for TS16949 into an integrated QMS;
The process was initiated through a complete review and extensive overhaul of the existing business process landscape together with the executive team, which then further culminated into a process re-definition and re-design. The result was also the adoption of the terminology of “Business Management System” (BMS, instead of QMS), as the new process landscape confirmed the commitment from the executive team that this is indeed an integrated system, focussing on all key, business processes.
The third-party transition-audit to AS9100 Rev. D was successfully completed on 22 May, with only one minor finding raised by Bureau Veritas. This is testament to the success of a true group-effort at all levels, which lead to enhanced ownership of processes and associated activities on all levels. Congratulations to all!
